Tea Tourism in India

 Life:
I was reading this article from Reuters Uk about tea tourism in India and their project to absorb tourists for their tea producing estates. They are just following the French and English pattern for Wine and Whisky tourism.
Then I thought why don't we have that in our country, Iran. The best Saffron in the world comes from Khorasan province and a very good rice from Gilan and Mazandaran provinces.
We already have the rose water ceremony in center of Iran but it is just confined to Iranian tourists. But think about Saffron ceremony with all foods and drinks that are made from Saffron and all those beautiful south Khorasan dances and music. It is an excellent way to familarize foreigners with the culture and products of that part of the country and of course for financial reasons. It just needs some people who are familiar with international tourism and peoples will to do it.

Deadlines

 Quotes:
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.

Digital scientific camera!

 Science:

1- A graduate student at Stanford University has developed a hand-held  camera which takes a shot first and allows you to make the decision about focus point in software after the event.  The back has had an array of 90,000 microlenses mounted in front of the sensor . These microlenses create a unique image on the sensor surface which includes not only the amount of light deposited at that location, but how much light arrives along each ray. The image is then reconstructed in software and a focus point can be chosen.

2-A team of researchers at UCSF have modified E. Coli bacteria to act as together as photosensitive sensor and produce 100 megapixel monochrome images.

Uniqueness Of Medical Data Mining

 AI:
I had a presentation in a course for undegraduate students and was making some slides. When looking for a reference and some descriptions about why data mining in medicine is different from other domains I found this very nice article which was published in the journal of artificial intelligence in medicine in 2002.

OpenOffice.org 2.0

 Software:
It is open-source, it is free and it works fine. Then why we do not use them? It has a word processor, a presentation tool, an spreadsheet and lot more.
This is a short description from OpenOffice.org 2.0 homepageOpenOffice.org 2.0 is an open, feature-rich multi-platform office productivity suite. The user interface and the functionality is very similar to other products in the market like Microsoft Office or Lotus SmartSuite, but in contrast to these commercial products OpenOffice.org is absolutely free.

Comparing Documents

 Software:
A couple of days ago I sent an article to a professor for his comments and necessary changes. he returned it and it was not apparent that which parts were changed. And I didn't want to put two copies (original and corrected) beside each other and compare them line by line, so I googled "comparing documents" and I found this software: Workshare Deltaview PE. I downloaded the trial version and it worked great. I could see the difference between two copies in different colours. Deleted, added etc.
