Better To Be Lucky Than Good

 Flight:
Twenty-one-year-old 2nd Lt. Richard LaMar Gillett downs a Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero on the east side of Luzon in the Philippines. Gillett was flying a Seversky P-35A on a reconnaissance mission near Muban, over Lamon Bay, identifying and counting invading Japanese landing craft and ships, when the chance came to shoot down a Zero. He is the only P-35A pilot to do so. Read more from FlightJournal.

There is an AT-12 Guardsman, a Seversky design, in the collection of the Planes of Fame Museum, Chino. This airplane flies and is beautifully preserved. There is a nice reference to its use by the Japanese Navy, Sweden and the USAAC in Wikipedia.
